Injecting Colour

Whilst experimenting with coloured paper, I became unsure of the exact shades of red I was using. It didn’t achieve the inner flesh, muscular and sinuous qualities I was looking for. I found it to be more pillar box red, and it repulsed me. In the wrong way.

I also incorporated a transparent plastic sheet. The larger cut outs of this material did not work as well as the smaller, more delicate ones. This line of enquiry has not been a success. And therefore, I want to get into the 2D studio to print the correct colours onto white paper stock. But first, I’ll explore the screen printing process.

The translucent qualities that Sally, my projector emit onto and into the sticks when layered with red cellophane give off a pulsating, static and sentient effect to the cut outs that are projected. For me, this is far more effective than using red papaer as a primary material.
