Tessellating the sticks into different formations gave variable impact to the sculptural sticks I’ve been producing in the studio.

Seeing the sticks in this way, forming an organic crucifix reminded me of this desire to make methods of religious worship portable. Or to move message with you. This shadow interplay resembles the effect of stained glass framing what is worthy in the space inside of the church. James Jeans’ recent line work in fused glass promises innovation to this art form, creating an unorthodox spectacle through something with religious connotations.
